The Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Onwudike obtained his Ph.D degree in Animal Science (Animal Biochemistry and Nutrition) in 1978 at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University under the University of Ife Scholarship Scheme. At the completion of the Ph.D programme, Prof. Onwudike started his lecturing career in the University of Ife and rose to the position of Associate Professor in 1987. Within the period, he was in 1980 offered a Fellowship of the International Atomic Energy Agency for a post-doctoral training in Colorado State University (USA) on the use of Nuclear Technologies in Animal Production and in 1981 admitted into the New York Academy of Science. In 1986, he was awarded the Matsumae International Foundation Fellowship for Research in Nagoya University, Japan. Between 1987 and 1990, he served as Commissioner for Agriculture and National Resources in the Old Imo State of Nigeria.

He was appointed a full Professor from 1st July 1994 at the Federal University of Agriculture (now Michael Okpara University of Agriculture) Umudike, Nigeria.

At the Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Onwudike held the following positions:

Vice-Chancellor, February 1, 2001 – January 31, 2006

Acting Vice-Chancellor, January 2000 – January 2001

Chairman, Senate Research Grants Committee, 1998-2000

First Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University, 1996-1999

Mr. Sampson E. Akpan


Mr. Sampson E Akpan is currently the Acting Registrar, Rhema University, Nigeria with take off site in Aba, Abia State. Mr. Sampson E. Akpan has held important positions as a Deputy Registrar at the Federal University, Owerri Imo State; Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, and Assistant Registrar to Council & Legal matters amongst many other positions. He has also served in various capacities as a consultant to the Association of Business Leaders in the Eastern States of Nigeria (ABELSON), Owerri Branch. He is also an expert and consultant in Public Administration. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Masters in International Relations from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium (1981), a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Federal University of Technology, Owerri (1994) and an honorary Doctorate in Administration from the University of Berkeley, Michigan, USA (2010).

Mr. Sunday A. Orji

The University Librarian

Mr. Orji is a Chartered Librarian. He started his career in librarianship with the National Library of Nigeria in 1978 as a Librarian-in-Training and left 18 years after as Chief Librarian. At the National Library he headed many units which included Head, Bauchi State Branch, 1982 – 1988; Head, Imo State Branch, 1988 – 1989; and Head, Cataloguing & Classification Division, 1992 – 1996.At the beginning of the Internet Age, he left the civil service to learn about the new information superhighway technology tools as regards librarianship. He joined Abia State University library in 2002 as the pioneer Systems Librarian and headed a team that implemented one of the first electronic libraries in Nigeria. He transferred his services to Salem University, Lokoja to establish the University Library. At Salem University he was a Principal Officer and belonged to many committees including the Chairman, Senate Curriculum Development Committee.

He has served in some national and state committees:– Committee on Legislative Terminologies (National Assembly), 1981 – 1983; National Committee on Sources of Nigerian History (National Archives), 1988 – 1989; Alhaji Tafawa Balewa Tomb Library Committee, 1984 – 1987; Bauchi State Legislative Library Committee, 1983.

He has provided consultancy services to many libraries, including, University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri (Training); Federal University of Agriculture, Markurdi (Personnel Selection); Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (Implementation of Institutional Repository), Hezekiah University (Proposed), Umudi, Imo State, and many others.

Mr Ezennwa, Emmanuel O.

Chief Accountant

Mr. Ezennwa has over 32 years work experience rising through the ranks of the various organizations he served.

He holds a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu. A Certified National Accountant and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants.

His hands-on post qualification experience spans over 13 years: 5 years as a graduate accountant and 10 years as a qualified accountant. These years of experience cover:

The Manufacturing Industry and

The University Education Industry

He was the first Cost Accountant of Juhel Nigeria Limited, Enugu: a pharmaceutical manufacturing company: Nov. 2009 – Aug. 2010. The founding acting University Bursar of Renaissance University Ugbawka, Enugu State: May 2006 – Oct. 2009
